God created Adam the representative head of our race. Adam is our father. We see this in the Fall descending on us, not when Eve ate the forbidden fruit, but when Adam ate that fruit. "In Adam's Fall, we sinned all."
Romans puts it clearly: "through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners" (Romans 5:19).
This male responsibility is fundamental to God's Order of Creation and continues to this day. The unique weight of male responsibility is not separable from our race God named adam (Hebrew) or man. Headship is intrinsic to manhood, and was so from the very beginning in the Garden of Eden prior to the Fall. In the state of perfection.
We know this because that male headship is what brought the Fall, Original Sin, and death to us all, both male and female. Eve is the mother of all the living, but it was her husband, Adam, who brought death to all the living. It was her husband, Adam, who brought death to herself.
In our age of sexual anarchy, this is the Gospel truth we must preach and confess before the world. Our Lord has commanded us to be the world's salt, and what is more salty today; what is more tasty and a better preservative today than the first man's responsibility for the woman, Eve, and every last one of her children down to this very day.
If faithful Christian confession, living, and preaching can be recognized by what kind of attack it elicits, the authority of man over the race of adam is the most virile, pungent, scandalous, hated, shameful, righteous, zealous, faithful, obedient, take-up-our-cross Gospel witness any son and daughter of our Heavenly Father can give:
For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous. (Romans 5:19)
The "one man's disobedience" refers to the first man, Adam. "The obedience of the One" refers to that Man who is the second Adam, our Lord Jesus Christ.
How would we ever remove manhood from the Gospel? Or better, why would we ever remove manhood from the Gospel?
Neuter Adam and Jesus; deny their manhood is central to the Gospel; declare to the world that Adam and Christ could just as easily have been female as male—or even androgynous; and good on you for confirming the world in its sexual anarchy.
Eviscerate manhood of its fatherhood over us all. Deny its responsibility. Curse its authority.
What you will be left with is a world in which the Gospel isn't needed and has no power to save. Neuter Adam and there is no Fall because God placed the responsibility on the male of the race. Neuter Jesus and there is no Redemption because only God's Son can save us.
Do we want to strengthen our mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives? Do we want to restore Eve to the center of life and love as God made her? To the work God created for her and her for?
There is no path to that love and beauty other than loving, living, and preaching God's archetypal Fatherhood over all His Creation, Jesus' archetypal Sonship over all the redeemed, and the glory of man in living out that fatherhood and sonship by bearing the responsibility and authority God decreed for him.
Woman and her babies will never be safe until man stops abandoning her to the world's depraved rebellion. Will we renew our commitment to that very old duty of sanctifying and protecting our brides just as Christ does His Bride, the Church?
Manhood is the salt we have rendered tasteless today; the light we have hidden. Our love of God the Father and God the Son doesn't exist without the resurrection of these duties assigned every man by his Creator, back at the very Beginning.
Christian, do not deny or shrug off the responsibility for your wife and household God has decreed when, from your beginning, He made you male. Nothing is harder, today. But nothing is more loving to your wife, the beautiful mother of your precious sons and daughters.
It is a beautiful thing to see Christian men live this out and proclaim it. Thank you.
Hey cool, we were just reading Romans 5 last night!
